Sarah is a Family
Nurse Practitioner, board-certified by the
Her experience
began as a research technician investigating therapies for diabetes and blood
vessel repair. Although biomedical
research was enjoyed, she realized her medical interests and desire to work
with the general public. After much
contemplation, she decided to change careers and become a nurse practitioner.
Much of her
desire to change careers came from her enjoyment of interaction with the
general public. She wanted to build
relationships and help those in need of health care. Working as a family nurse practitioner at the
Institute for Family Medicine has provided her these opportunities in public
health. She embraces the opportunity to
make a difference in the needs of patients of all ages and several populations
including homeless youth, low-income families, and international refugees. With each patient she hopes to build a
trusting relationship and strives to have a treatment plan that fits the unique
needs of each individual.
In addition
to working as a nurse practitioner, Sarah has had experience in the educational
background as well. Sharing knowledge in
both small and large settings, she has worked in collaborations with Saint
Louis University as adjunct faculty in the nursing program, designed and
provided training programs tailored specifically for child care centers, and
worked closely with students obtaining their internships. By sharing her knowledge she has gained
through both work and study, she hopes to allow others have a further
understanding and be better prepared for health related issues that occur in
the community.
